My Cake is Leaking!

First grade is no different than Kindergarten...Mama and Papa, neither one, wanted to drop Caleb off for the first day of school. Caleb was completely ready to be there and totally excited about the start of school, but we as parents were still not ready for "the great divide." I have a hard time that this nice teacher, that we have just met, will potentially spend more time with our son than we will. We are excited about the time he will have at school, but it is still hard.

We are all so thankful for all of the Superman gear to help us get ready for school. We love our new backpack (a.k.a. pack-pack) and lunchbox. The lunchbox even has a cape that flies when you twirl it around. Way cool!

Like last year, today we had a "First day of School" cake for our snack after school. Caleb was so excited to see the cake, but was a bit confused. (This cake was an ice cream cake from Maggie Moo's, one of Caleb's favorite places.) He could hardly believe that the cake was really made of ice cream. He was about half way through with his piece, and he looked at Monty and said "My cake is leaking." Evidently, to our first grader "leaking" means the same thing as melting.

Friend Weekend

Some of our dear friends, James and Kendra and the their two boys, came to visit us this past weekend. We have been friends with them for years and truly treasure thier friendship. Since we have moved, we haven't gotten the opportunity to visit with them much, so we really enjoyed being with them. We had such a great time playing and hanging out with them.

Caleb (aka "Ka-Cub") and Cason were both worn out from all of their playing. They played for 2 days straight. For there to be several years difference in age, they played so good together.

Poor sweet Carter who is only 6 months old, only had the chance to just watch the two big boys. Having Cason and Carter around, helped Caleb (and Mik) realize what it will be like when his little brother or sister gets here. (Update: 19 days until we leave for the Ukraine)

This week is all about getting ready for school. We are enjoying our last few days of summer by swimming, sleeping in, meeting Caleb's teacher and getting ready for all of our upcoming family adjustments. I think Caleb is getting a little nervous about the big day, but we help him know it is going to be a great year as a 1st grader. (It honestly makes "the mama" really sad, but we are not going to talk about that.) He is going to be a great 1st grader.

It is offical!

Well, it is now offical...we now have added blogging to our world. Hope you enjoy reading about the daily blessings of our lives.
