The First Day...

The first day of our Thanksgiving holiday was celebrated at Monty's parents house. We celebrated with Monty's Grandma and Aunt Judy, as well as his Memaw, Grindad, Aunt Cathy and Cousin Emily. We all had a great time eating and playing around. This was the first time that all of our extended family had the opportunity to meet Ashlyn and they all loved her.

Here is Caleb and Ashlyn with Memaw and Grindad.

Even Cathy and Emily got in on the fun.

Cowboy Caleb

This Friday was a very special day in our house. Caleb's school had their "Round-Up Sing-A-Long" that they have been practicing for for the last month or so. Caleb had to dress in western gear, which there is not much of that at our house, and wear it to school. (It is always fun when you don't have wear "normal" clothes to school.)

The gym at his school was incredibly packed! There were around 350 students plus their parents all crammed into this gym, and that was only half of the school. Needless to say, we had to arrive way early just to get a seat, and you weren't guarenteed a spot to even see your child. We were very blessed by actually getting a spot to see Caleb. If he had been 2 or 3 spots over, we would have never seen him during the whole show.

Great-Grandparents

This past week, Ashlyn and I took a few days and went on a road trip to my parents' house. We went to visit them and my grandparents. Due to some recent illness, my grandparents, Meme and Papaw, hadn't had a chance to meet Ashlyn yet, so we went ventured our way to hang out with them. Meme and Papaw loved getting to know our sweet little Ashlyn. They all played and played. Ashlyn definitely loved all of the extra attention. It was a great opportunity just to hang out, talk, and play. It seems like we don't get those opportunities very often to be with ones that we love that live away from us, so we took our chance.

What a weekend!

Last weekend was very eventful! We have had a great time doing all sorts of things. Our first big adventure of the weekend was that both Caleb and Ashlyn got new glasses! Caleb can always use a new pair and Ashlyn got her very first pair. They both did so good at the doctors office and getting fitted for their glasses. It is amazing how much clearer the world is when you can see! Ashlyn has hardly bothered her glasses and loves having them on.

This is Caleb and Ashlyn with their new glasses. Don’t they look great?

Following getting our new glasses, we ventured to Caleb’s school for his fall carnival. Everything there was so fun. They had so many fun games and events happening all around the school property. We loved the train and the bounce house probably the best out of everything there. (Ashlyn didn’t really know what to think about the train ride at first, but after a few minutes, she was more at ease.)

We finished up our weekend going to our friend Kendra’s 30th Surprise birthday party. Surprise! We had a great time hanging out with some of our dear friends.

Number 4 comes out!!

My little baby is growing up! I still can hardly believe that Caleb is big enough to be losing his teeth. As I had stated in an earlier post, he has had some teeth loose for the last month or so. The fourth little loose tooth really didn't want to come out. We all pulled on it lots of times, but had no luck. We would get the camera out and would have another false alarm. He could wiggle it forwards, backwards, and even side to side, but the little tooth held on with all of its might. This picture is of Papa and Caleb trying to pull that stuborn tooth.

Well at the Middle School retreat last weekend we finally had luck and it came out. It was perfect. All of our friends were chanting "CALEB! CALEB! CALEB..." and it came out without a hitch. The whole group cheered when it came out. Caleb was very proud. The tooth fairy even found Caleb sleeping amongst all of the bunk beds. It was amazing!

Retreat time -

As you know, right now we are celebrating a lot of firsts in our lives with Ashlyn. This last weekend was her very first middle school retreat. Only being in the US right at three weeks, she has now been offically introduced into the life of youth ministry. We didn't know how the weekend would turn out with two children now in our lives, but both of them did really well. Ashlyn took all of the new weekend changes in stride. Anything from camp food, bunk beds, and 30 middle schoolers were all handled very well. She absolutely loved all of the attention from her new friends. By the end of the weekend, all four of us were exhausted and ready to come home and take a nap. She was so cute when we pulled into the drive-way, "Look - we home!"

As you can tell, Caleb and Ashlyn felt right at home laying amongst the teens while watching the movie Saturday night.

Halloween Fun!

Trick-or-Treating is always an adventure. This year the high school group at our church trick-or-treated for canned goods for a food bank here in town. The high schoolers and us all got on the church bus, which was another first for Ashlyn, and headed to a neighborhood to hunt for canned goods. When the group went to hunt for cans, Caleb, Ashlyn and I went trick-or-treating for the real goods...candy. We all loved it very much. Caleb and Ashlyn both were pros at saying "Trick-or-Treat" and always loved the results.

This is Caleb making Halloween cookies.

Papa got to join us for parts of the evening, which we all loved.

Fun in the car

It is amazing to think that less than 3 weeks ago, Ashlyn had never sat in a car seat ever. Her first experience wasn't necessarily a bad one, but it wouldn't go down into the record books for being the easiest either. My, times have changed. She loves riding in the car and looking at everything new and playing with whatever she can find. Here are few pictures of Caleb and Ashlyn singing and clapping to some Little People's finest...The Wheels on the Bus.

Aren't Ashlyn's glasses amazing?
