Day 14

Before we write about our trip, I just wanted to ask to pray for my Meme. She is having surgery tomorrow, Tuesday, September 25th. It is a surgery that most likely will last most of the day. It is hard to not be there to support her and Papaw through this. If you think about it, lift up a prayer on her behalf.


Day 14 – September 23 – It is still amazing to think that this time 2 weeks ago we were heading to the great unknown called adoption in the Ukraine. Both adopting and the Ukraine could be considered “great unknowns” in our world. I am so glad to be on this side of knowing what God has in store for us. There are still so many things that we don’t know, but we see God working everyday answering those questions.

Today was our 21^st and 22^nd visits to the baby home. We have walked there all but 2 of them. We have done a lot of walking and we still have a lot of walking to go. We probably will make at least another 14 trips to the baby home. We will all need new shoes when we get home. Maybe one pair wasn’t enough?

It is so fun going to see Veeka and see her running to come see us. I think she would be ok to come with us for good right now. That is a good feeling. We did give her another juice box and it went much better today. She actually may learn how to use a straw after all.

The caregivers gave us some clothes today that she wears so that we might be able to match them up with appropriate sizes at the market. It was very nice of them to help us. They actually gave us the pants and one shoe that she was wearing. Poor thing walked into her room with her shirt, long underwear and one shoe.

We did church again today. Caleb led some singing and did the communion. He didn’t really have a sermon talk for us. He still wanted to be in charge of the whole church service. There were no mass giggling moments like we had last Sunday. We have contacted a lady with EEM (Eastern European Missions) who lives here in the Ukraine and she did not know of any Christians here in Khmel’nyts’kyy. We were hoping she knew some people here that we could worship with here. We very much enjoyed worshiping with Dennis and Natasha in Yekaterinburg.
